It’s September and for those of you who are thinking of the UK as a study destination for 2016, now is the time to apply. While it is true that the UCAS application stays open till 30th June 2016 for international students, a lesser known fact is that most of the top universities start closing their competitive courses after 15th January 2016.
A lot of schools give out the students’ predicted grades only after the mid-term exams in Nov-Dec. Therefore you must aim to submit your applications by the time the universities close for Christmas vacations so that it’s one thing you can strike off your to-do list.
What can you do right now?
Ø Short list the universities you think you might want to apply to. Remember UCAS only allows 5 choices!
Ø Work on your Personal Statement. This is without doubt one of the most important parts of your application. Don’t fret if you end up writing 7-8 drafts before finally getting it right.
Ø Identify your referee. This could be anyone in your current academic institution who has taught you. Keep in mind that content is more important than designation.
Ø Create your UCAS application. UCAS opened on 15th September so you can fill it up and wait for the predicted grades before submitting it.
Ø Be conscious of the fact that timing is everything when it comes to your application.
University Options assists students with the entire application process from choosing universities to guidance on the personal statement as well as post application follow up and sending of documents to the universities.
